The Tietgenkollegiet student residence in the Ørestad district of Copenhagen is an acclaimed architectural development and winner of the prestigious RIBA European Award.
Accommodating 400 students in 360 modern apartments across seven floors, the architects required a powerful and efficient heating solution to compliment the building’s contemporary aesthetics.
Jaga Mini Canal trench heaters enhanced with Jaga’s Low-H2O technology were selected to warm both the apartments and corridors. With eco-efficiency high on the architects agenda, the Mini Canal was an ideal choice, cutting carbon costs by 10% and using 90% less water than traditional radiators. The radiators are inserted into floor trenches between 9cm and 14cm deep.
For the Tietgenkollegiet, the Mini Canals were subtly positioned under the windows to maximize floor space while countering the potential heat loss from the building’s glass facades.
Jaga Mini Freestandings were positioned in front of the Library’s glass facades as a discreet solution that counters heat loss without the need to be fixed into the building’s walls.
