A premiere green project, Cité Verte or “green city” is a model for sustainable design based in Quebec City, Quebec. A mixed use project including residential and commercial spaces, Cité Verte is built on the grounds of an expansive convent built in the early 1900s. In order to preserve the site’s history, developers retrofitted the existing church, convent and structures built upon 93 000 m² (23 acres) of land, but they have also included several new buildings in their plans.
By using Jaga, engineers for the Cité Verte project were able to eliminate the high temperature in the building, capturing the full potential energy savings of the district system. The renewable energy system operates at costs similar to the costs for an electric system, which are extremely low in Quebec. With the DBE system from Jaga, engineers enhanced the control of the system which ultimately improves the overall comfort for future building occupants.
