We were proud to have been specified by J G Consulting to support the heating modernisation of The Almonry Kitchen, a remarkable Grade I listed restaurant & tearoom situated within the grounds of Ely Cathedral.

The Cathedral dates back to the 11th century and took 100 years to complete, making it one of England's greatest medieval landmarks.

The Almonry Kitchen itself dates back to the 13th century. To preserve its historical character and improve its sustainability credentials, the heating system was upgraded to a 27kW Ideal Heating Ecomod 290HT commercial heat pump, with existing radiators replaced throughout the building by Infinite Heating and Energy Ltd with our Briza 22 & Built-In Hybrid units to improve overall system efficiency.

Both radiator models were recessed to provide a discreet finish, with some being further concealed within bespoke covers to complement the interior aesthetics.

This newly upgraded renewable heating system is part of Ely Cathedral's wider project to reduce carbon emissions. The installation is expected to cut heating-related emissions by approximately 80%, making The Almonry Kitchen one of the most environmentally sustainable restaurants in the area.
