Homeowners at a property in Surrey had a new air source heat pump installed as part of a complete home heating system upgrade. They conducted their own extensive research into which emitters would be best to pair with their heat pump, and Strada Hybrids came out on top.

The homeowner highlighted that it was the combination of high heat outputs at low flow temperatures, quick response times, low water content and the slimline style that made them extremely attractive. However, it was the additional benefit of light cooling that set them apart from any other radiator.

The Strada Hybrid is a wall-mounted convector radiator which incorporates Jaga’s ultra-fast Low-H2O heat exchanger with Dynamic Boost Hybrid (DBH) technology fitted on top. DBH boosts natural convection, increasing the heat output of the radiator by up to 300% without increasing size, so it’s perfectly suited to heat pump and low flow temperature systems.

BACKGROUND

When the homeowners had their new air source heat pump installed, their old steel panel radiators no longer provided enough heat output to comfortably heat their home due to the reduction in flow temperature from 75/65°C to 45/40°C.

THE CHALLENGE

They needed new emitters that would work efficiently on this lower temperature to provide cosy indoor temperatures throughout the winter without taking up metres of wall space in their home.

What they hadn’t factored into their search was cooling, as they didn’t know it could be achieved from a wall-mounted radiator.

THE SOLUTION

After researching various emitters, the homeowner found Strada Hybrid to be the best solution to meet their needs. The DBH heat-boosting technology meant the new radiators didn’t need to be larger than their old steel panel rads as they could comfortably reach the required outputs on the lower flow temperature. When they realised they could get non-condensing, low-energy cooling from these same radiators just by reversing their heat pump, they decided to increase the unit lengths slightly to enhance cooling capacity even further.

Six Strada Hybrids were installed by New Heat Solutions and the homeowners have been so impressed by the cooling function which kept their home refreshingly cool in the summer heatwaves (as shown in their photo).

The homeowner & specifier in Surrey said: "we’re very happy with the new radiators. They work perfectly with the heat pump running at 45/40 and are very economical. Not only do they look good and heat up quickly, the fans only run when needed so we’re not wasting electricity. The light cooling is much more powerful than we expected, so on hot days we’ve had them running in cooling mode and it’s been very refreshing – ideal for the British climate where we don’t necessarily need air conditioning."

Matt Heath from Heat Solutions said: "piping up to the unit was very straightforward. The installation and user manual were very easy to work through. The fans on the unit are super quiet and highly effective too. New Heat Solutions highly recommend the Jaga brand."
